Tool # 11 Reflection

1. What are your favorite tools you now have in your personal technology toolbox?
My favorite tools are Digital Storytelling, Google Docs, and I-touch.

Briefly describe a particular activity that you will plan for your students using at least one of these new tools.
My favorite tool is Digital Storytelling. I would definitely be using this tool with my students. We would be creating stories as whole or small groups. They would be looking for pictures and adding text to create a story for any content area or personal.

2. How have you transfomed your thinking about the learning that will take place in your classroom?
Doing 11 Tools has change my way of thinking about technology. Learning about all these tools and how we can integrate them into our classroom is amazing. I know that my students are going to be more hands-on with technology this new school year. They are going to be learning, reinforcing their skills, use their creativity, and having fun at the same time.

3. Were there any unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
I thought that it was going to be very difficult for me to complete the tasks because I'm not that great at technology. But I was very surprised that I didn't have any trouble completing them and I was able to understand what to do.

Tool # 11

Three things that I would like for my students to learn about being good digital citizens is knowing about communication, security safety, and responsibility.  I would model to my class about being a good digital citizen on a daily basis and have whole group discussions about each area. With my kindergarten students it would be a continuing process through the whole school year.

Tool # 10

Applications from the Apple products are great. They have a lot of variety that we can choose from. The students can learn a lot of great concepts through games and reading.

I think the Read me Stories is a great application to use with our students. The students can reinforce their skills of what they have learn by using applications that are provided not just in reading but also other subjects. I would use this during our literacy workstations. The students would be so excited to use this new type of technology.

Tool #9

Jing is a great tool to use. It's an easier way to communicate and do things. You can record the process and they will have the video available at any time to see. This is also a great tool that you can use with your colleagues. Theirs a lot of wonderful things you can do.
Skype is an awesome tool to use with our students. This will allow them to communicate with other students not just within our school but in differenct parts of the city, state, or different countries. They will be able to learn about different cultures and have an open-minded about the world.

Tool #8

I got two videos from teacher tube that I will be able to use in my classroom. The first video is a song about the water cycle. I could show this video as an opening to our lesson. I think its great for my ELL because they are going to be able to follow the words and it has repetition.

The second video talks about magnets. It has a really fun exercise that my students can follow. It also has a song that they are going to like. It's a fun way to learn!

Tool #7

Photostory is one of my favorite tools so far. I thought if would be harder to create it but it was really easy to make. My students and I can create stories together as a whole class. They will be able to use their own creativity by telling stories and creating their own illustrations.Students will be able to learn and have fun at the same time.

Tool #6

Wiki is an amazig tool to use. My kindergarten students and I can create stories it increases their creativity and participate in different writing activities as a class. Also, with my teamates we can create our thematic units and lesson plans.

Tool #5

Bookmarking allows you to organize information and find resources. It also allows you to share with your colleagues and students. Also, it allows you to join groups that share the same commom interest where you can help each other find information. By using this tool it will help me find resources for myself and students to use.

I searched on Diigo using "Kindergarten Math Games" and found this interesting and exciting website for my students to use: http://www.kidport.com/ it has a lot of wonderful exercises for Math (numbers, sequencing numbers, shapes, addition, subtraction, same/different, and so much more).

I also searched on Diigo "kindergarten science" and found this interesting website for me as a teacher to use:
http://www.rockingham.k12.va.us/resources/elementary/kscience.htm#1lessonplans it has a lot of resources for me to use lesson plans, power point presentations, united streaming videos, book suggestion and assessments. These resources are included on one page only. I don't have to research different websties to find these.

Tool #4

Google Docs is a great tool to use with your colleagues or students. I will not be able to use this with my kindegarten students but I can use this with my teamates. You can share lesson plans, documents, and so much more. I like this because its so convenient to share, revise, and edit with your teamates.

Google Reader helps you to keep updated with the latest information on particular topics of your interest. It's really nice that you have everything in one page. Once again this will be more useful for me than my kindergarten students.

This was a lot of fun. I used Dumpr and Spell with Flickr. The students can get really creative by using these tools it will enhance their learning on technology. They are going to be able to create their products in a exciting way.  I will be able to incorporate these tools in my classroom for all subjects. The students or myself  can create books, students can practice their vocabulary, and make exciting images.

Tool #2

1. What are your thoughts about building an online education community and participating in a PLN?
I think this a great tool to communicate with your colleagues or others within your field..  I as a teacher I'm always looking for new ideas or opinions. This tool will be helpful on sharing information and learning from others.

2. What point stood out to you from the commenting advice?
The thing that stood out for me about commenting was "ask questions". This will create an ongoing conversation and people will be able to share their point of views, ideas and any information that you have asked.

3. The blogs that I commented on were:
Technology 101
11 Tools Vero
Maria Orozco
Hammack
Ms. Farias' 11 tools for the 21st century

Tool #1

I had fun creating my avatar. They are so many options to choose from. At first I thought that it was going to take me a while to figure this out but this was so easy and fun to create.  It was a new learning experience.

I'm not sure how would I use this with my kindergarten students. I could use the blog to communicate with my students parents. Also, I can teach my students how to create their own avatar.  This will help them learn what technology is and what it offers.
